We’ve enhanced our foreign national lending policy

Family (spousal) income now accepted for joint applications.

We've enhanced our foreign national lending policy to include family (spousal) income for joint mortgage applications, effective today. Previously, we included family visa holders on applications; now, we'll factor their income into affordability assessments. 

Specifically, we'll consider income for joint applications where: 

• Applicant 1 has indefinite leave to remain, settled status, or British citizenship. 
• Applicant 2 (the family visa holder and partner) has 3+ months remaining on their visa and at least 2 years of UK residency 

Other applicants can be included on the mortgage, but their income won't be considered. 

This enhancement builds on our existing support for foreign nationals, which includes: 

• Only 2 years minimum UK residency required 
• Only 3 months remaining on a Skilled Worker visa required
